How rounds and clocks work

Chess round
45 seconds
Ring round
30 seconds
Chess time per player
90 seconds

Each player's chess clock counts down only on their turn. Both clocks pause during the fight. The board position, remaining chess time and fighter health carry over between rounds.

Select a chess piece, then select a highlighted destination. White moves first.

How to win

Checkmate or a knockout ends the match. If one player's chess clock runs out, the other player wins.

A draw on the board sends both players into a final fight. If the match reaches the end without a decisive result, the fighter with more health wins. Equal health means a draw.

In an online match, each player uses the player 1 keys on their own device. On supported touchscreens, controls appear during the fight.

Hold a direction while jumping to pass over your opponent. A punch followed by a kick can push your opponent back.

Start with a solo match

Choose Vs CPU, set the chess and ring difficulty separately, then select Play match. Select Training in the same mode to practise guarding, jumping over your opponent and landing a counter.

For two players on one keyboard, choose Local duel. For separate devices, send a private invitation.
